National Housing Authority and Naya Pakistan Housing Authority are merged as the merger is approved by The Cabinet Committee on Institutional Reforms (CCIR) on Friday. A summary is sent to the federal cabinet by the committee for final approval.

Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood, Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture, and other committee members discussed the amendments to some regulations of the Rules of Business in order to make governments work speedy and unconstrained. The CCIR chairman said that these amendments to the Rules of Business will be an end to the red tape and unnecessary delay in the government’s work.

After an extended discussion, it was proposed by the committee that certain autonomous bodies and companies would intimate the Ministry of Law regarding the hired lawyer or the firm for representation in courts and it would be mandatory for the Ministry of Law to give its input within 10 days. Mr. Mahmood further added that such rules that create ambiguity in the disposal of business of the government were being altered to create clarity.

Moreover, Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak, Law Minister Barrister Farogh Naseem, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Petroleum Nadeem Babar, and Adviser to Prime Minister on Institutional Reforms and Austerity Dr. Ishrat Husain were present in the meeting as well.
